Therapy is an investment

Seeking out therapy is on the rise. Therapy is an investment in yourself and it takes dedication, time, and money.
How Much Therapy
New clients should come to sessions at least once a week, there is a lot of “life” that can happen in 7 days. If a client is experiencing something traumatic, sometimes several sessions a week is needed at first. It is super important for clients to stay on track and to move at a certain pace when it comes to counseling. I prefer my clients to come in at the same time every week to keep a structured and organized schedule. I can tell you right now if you do not dedicate time once a week, you will be missing out on some important benefits you can receive from therapy. In my experience most clients come several times the first month and then once a week for about 6 months to a year. The great news is my clients state that they feel much better by the 2nd or 3rd week of therapy. Feeling better does not mean you are done yet, its a process. It is important to get all the tools and techniques you can get from therapy.
What is the Investment
The investment is in you and your well-being. There are so many pros to therapy I barely no where to begin. First, most of the information and education you learn in therapy, you probably have not learned anywhere else. Our schools do not teach it, which they should of but that is another blog. Here is a short list of mental health benefits you can receive from therapy that can last you a life time. Learn how to:
- Become self-aware (nobody can change unless they are self-aware)
- Control your thoughts
- Control your emotions
- Become a happier person
- Become a better communicator
- Become a better listener
- Become a better brother, sister, mother, father, friend, husband, wife ect
- Build self-esteem and self-worth
- Overcome fears, truama, and/or worries
- Use Coping strategies for tough times
- End destructive habits or learned behaviors such as substance abuse or anger
- Decrease Stress, Anxiety, or Depression
If you recognize that you need self-work in any of these areas, give yourself the best investment you can, it can change your life. Therapy.
