Mr. Richard VanVoorhis is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who works with patients from 16 and up. He brings warmth, experience, and a patient-centered approach to every session—helping individuals feel heard, informed, and supported in their mental health journey.
Richard began his career in mental health as a registered nurse and clinical instructor at Walsh University after earning his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kent State University. He later completed a rigorous psychiatry internship in Florida, providing care in both outpatient and inpatient settings, before earning his Master of Science in Nursing with a psychiatric focus from Walden University.
At Innovative Direction, Richard provides comprehensive psychiatric care and ongoing medication management with a focus on symptom relief, stability, and quality of life. He fosters a calm and collaborative environment where patients are encouraged to ask questions, express concerns, and take an active role in their treatment
